RUANG INTERVIEW

WE WANTED A BUILDING THAT WAS REALLY SIMPLE
WHERE THE BEAUTY WOULD COME
FROM THE DETAILS OF THE WOOD ITSELF.
This is our very first CLT project. This was a very important project for us at Woodlam Indonesia as we wanted to experiment with CLT as a building material. After continuous learning and research on CLT, it was time for us to implement the know-how and innovation that we have accumulated from different manufacturers and conferences around the world.
Bringing back innovation to ones own country is never an easy task, especially when most surrounding areas within our region have not experienced anything quite like it. There was a lot of trial and error involved, which enabled us to keep analyzing, growing, and learning as we experience new challenges day by day.
What made this particular project unique was that it allowed us to familiarize ourselves with how CLT is put together into one single solid building. Our team had to undergo the whole project-engineering concept from design, planning, manufacturing, to installation. This had challenges, but none that we could not overcome. At the end, the experience was both enjoyable and rewarding.

Purpose

There were two main purposes for this project.

One was to understand CLT as a material, its strengths, its abilities, its limitations, and how to connect one panel to another to secure a firm connection.

The second purpose was to fulfill the needs of our client, which wanted to have a unique and creative space that can be used to interview new employees, have small meetings with suppliers, and a space where workers were able to find refreshment by being in a different atmosphere. We learned that timber has a significant effect on human psychology. Our clients noticed that people felt a lot more secure and composed when being interviewed, and the employees who used this new facility were more productive during working hours.

Concept

The design concept of this particular building was that of a minimalist modern contemporary building. we wanted the structure to showcase a lot of glass and a whole lot of wood. Our client wanted to have an exciting element in their premise, something different from everyday offices and unavailable in the current market. most modern contemporary design are based with flush raw concrete with small elements that are furnished with wood on the interior. hence, we took this a step further and built the entire structure and finish with timber.
